My name is Stan Curtis, owner and technician. Thank you for visiting my website! I welcome the opportunity to serve your piano needs. Inquiries, contact and discussion may be initiated via my e-mail, or through the service request form on this webpage. A simple telephone call also works!! I tune pianos and specialize in complete piano restoration. Each menu item will provide you with a detailed description of the service performed. The menu titles "Complete Restoration", "A Grand Piano Restoration" and "An Upright Piano Refinishing" give sequential and descriptive detail of each process with photos.
A native of Jamestown, NY., I began to study piano at the age of seven. My piano studies continued throughout college, majoring in piano. I attended Jamestown High School, and was a member of all of the musical organizations. I have given solo piano recitals in High School and College.
I studied Piano Tuning and Repair, a course offered at Chautauqua Institution under noted piano technician Phillip Kaufmann, in the summer of 1958. Thus began a 50-year career in the piano business.
I received a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from the MacPhail College of Music in Minneapolis, MN, and a Master's Degree in Music Education from the State University of New York, at Fredonia, New York. I taught music in Blue Earth, MN from 1966-1969, and Vocal Music at Panama Central School, Panama, NY from 1969-1997. I retired from public school music teaching in 1997, but continued on a part-time basis until June 2004.
During my teaching career I simultaneously developed my piano tuning, repair, and restoration business. Now, completely retired from teaching, I am happy to be able to focus entirely on my piano business. I thoroughly enjoy this. With over 50 years experience, you can trust me to expertly tune and/or restore your piano. |
